Understanding Islamist Militant Terrorism and Prevention Strategies

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides an understanding of the following topics:

  1. Understanding Islamic Theology in order to identify radical Muslim infrastructure. Understanding the Islamic Qur’an and Sunnah (The Life of Prophet Muhammad).
  2. Understanding Islamic Shariah law and militant Islamic ideology associated with Islamic terrorism. Understanding Islamic Shariah law.
  3. In traffic stops, interviews and investigations, how to use “Behavioral Analysis” techniques to distinguish moderate and peaceful Muslim citizens from radicals and militants who may be potential terrorists or terrorist sympathizers.
  4. How to identify Sunni Muslims from Shi’ite Muslims.
  5. How to identify radical and militant Islamist signs and indicators.
  6. How to monitor Islamic communities and to identify population and community trends associated with radical and militant Islamist entities.
  7. How to develop intelligence operations designed to identify radical and militant Muslims.
  8. How to develop intelligence operations designed to protect critical infrastructure.
  9. How to distinguish legitimate Arabic names from nicknames, titles and name altering schemes. These name disguising techniques are part of identity fraud schemes used to create aliases and to conceal true identities and are designed to hinder law enforcement efforts.
  10. Identification and questioning techniques to validate Arabic and Muslim names and identities.

TARGET AUDIENCE

  • Local, state and federal law enforcement officers/agents; Office of Motor Vehicles supervisors.
  • Social Security Administration supervisors; private sector corporations with critical infrastructure

MINIMUM CAPACITY: 40 STUDENTS REQUIRED TO HOLD THE CLASS.

MAXIMUM CAPACITY: 50 STUDENTS

COURSE MATERIAL Each participant will receive:

  1. A copy of the book authored by the presenter – “A Law Enforcement Guide to Interviewing Techniques & Tactics for Arab/Muslim Nationals.” The book is intended for reference and supplementary information.
  2. Laminated reference sheet for Arabic Names
