"Since law enforcement agencies began partnering with citizens through community policing, we've seen significant drops in crime rates."

Introduction to Homelessness Issues in the Community

“Introduction to Homelessness Issues in the Community” is a course designed to assist today's law enforcement with the growing issue of homelessness in our society.

The course demonstrates how several counties have developed "Homeless Outreach Teams" in which a civilian social worker is paired with a law enforcement officer through a partnership with county and city officials.

Throughout this course law enforcement officers will be given valuable information regarding resources when encountering homeless individuals and families. Law enforcement officers will gain the skills to develop positive working relationships with various social service agencies and be encouraged to develop a sense of empathy toward the homeless population.
