Miguel worked 22 years as a Deputy U. S. Marshal, retiring in December 2006. As a senior criminal investigator in the U. S. Marshal's Service, his main responsibilities included actively investigating cases assigned to the district, directing and monitoring complex investigations and apprehensions, enduring prompt and appropriate investigations of leads originating from other districts, developing and presenting materials and evidence suitable for admission in the federal grand jury, testifying in federal and state court proceedings and participating in international investigations and extraditions.
In 2002, Miguel was assigned to the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). The primary function of the task force was to conduct domestic and international terrorism investigations. As a result of this assignment, Miguel participated in several high-profile cases, such as the prosecution of former USF professor Sami Al-Arian.
Miguel is a certified instructor in the fields of counter-terrorism, WMD, chemical and biological weapons, firearms and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). |
