William Daniels - U.S. Attorney's Office, Middle District of Florida

Since February 2011, William Daniels has served as the official spokesperson and Law Enforcement Coordinator for the United States Attorney's Office, Middle District of Florida. Previously (1998-2011), he served as the Community Resource Specialist for the District, covering 35 of Florida’s 67 counties. He acts as an advisor to the United States Attorney on law enforcement and community-related matters, public affairs/media relations, assists in the coordination of specialized law enforcement and community-based initiatives, and acts as a liaison to federal, state, and local law enforcement, government, and civic organizations. Mr. Daniels serves as the Co-Chair for the U.S. Attorney’s, Civil Rights/Hate Crimes Working Group – developing training and programs to improve intercultural dialogue and working relationships among diverse groups. As the District’s Ex-Offender Re-Entry coordinator, he works in partnership with members of the Court, law enforcement and corrections agencies, educational institutions, and non-governmental organizations to reduce recidivism.

Mr. Daniels is a former sworn law enforcement officer, acting field-training officer, and member of a special narcotics and felony enforcement unit. As a certified law enforcement instructor, he has served as a national adjunct instructor to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Federal Law Enforcement Training Center on matters involving Domestic Terrorism, Hate Crimes and Extremism, as an adjunct to the U.S. Department of Justice National Advocacy Center, and Florida Regional Community Policing Institute at St. Petersburg College. Mr. Daniels has consulted with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission) on curriculum development for law enforcement officers, and presents nationally and internationally on special matters involving human dynamics and diversity, violent extremism, law enforcement and community relations, ex-offender reentry, and leadership. His endeavors have included specialized research, training and technical assistance projects throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa.
