Criminal Gang Investigation Techniques The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida and the Center for Public Safety Innovation at St. Petersburg College are pleased to announce that the Project Safe Neighborhoods Violent Gang and Gun Crime Reduction Program will conduct a one day class on Criminal Gang Investigation Techniques. The training is being held at St. Petersburg College Allstate Center. There are no fees or costs to attend the training. Criminal gangs are today’s organized crime with documented ties to transnational criminal and terrorist organizations. Like most criminal enterprises, criminal gangs have evolved into complex organizations with financial, logistical, human, and hardware resources, which are a threat to the public as well as law enforcement officers. Even hybrid/local gangs with no national affiliations are capable of seizing a community through violence or the threat of violence, while also engaging in substantial criminal activity that impacts law enforcement efforts. This tuition-free eight-hour course is designed to provide investigators, prosecutors, probation, and corrections personnel with investigative techniques and strategies to effectively target criminal gangs through proper documentation, threat assessment, and intelligence gathering.
