Identifying and Surviving Hidden Weapons

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida and the Center for Public Safety Innovation at St. Petersburg College are pleased to announce that the Project Safe Neighborhoods Violent Gang and Gun Crime Reduction Program will conduct a one day class on Identifying and Surviving Hidden Weapons. There are no fees or costs to attend the training.

This tuition-free eight-hour course is designed to identify concealment areas in household items, internet purchased items, altered devices, and specially designed armaments all made with criminal intent to conceal dangerous weapons. The class will discuss where and how criminals and gang members obtain items which can conceal dangerous weapons, demonstrate methodical search techniques to uncover all manner of concealed items containing dangerous weapons, and emphasize refocusing officer safety skills and using tactical advantage procedures. This course is highly interactive with several live demonstrations showing proactive officer safety and search techniques. Real-life videos of officer safety "winnable" situations and learning points will engage student interaction as a very powerful learning tool. Numerous depictions are shown and discussed related to hundreds of different types of concealed dangerous weapons.
