Training of Trainer, Policía Comunitaria y Solución de Problema (TOT#2)
Una treintena de uniformados toman adiestramiento de Policía Comunitario El Florida Regional Community Policing Institute (FLRCPI) en St. Petersburg College continúa ofreciendo adiestramientos sobre policía comunitaria en Puerto Rico con los fondos recibidos de la Oficina de Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) dentro del Departamento de Justicia Federal (USDOJ). Desde el 10-13 junio 2014 , el Dr. Ernesto Fernández, del Puerto Rico Training Initiative- FLRCPI, Instructor Carlos Rosario junto con el Coordinador de Capacitación Leo Cordero en colaboración con la Oficina de Reforma de la Policía de PR y el Sgto. Orlando Ojeda del CUJC, presentaron la segunda de tres " Introducción a la Policía Comunitaria – Capacitación de Instructores (TOT # 2)” El siguiente artículo fue publicado por Noticias 24/7 Puerto Rico sobre TOT # 2: “Una nueva era de la Policía orientada a la comunidad”, esa es la meta que tiene la Policía de Puerto Rico y por ello, arrancó hoy el 2do adiestramiento a 30 participantes quienes en su mayoría serán certificados como instructores una vez culmine la capacitación, informó el Superintendente de la Policía de Puerto Rico, José Caldero López y la rectora del Colegio Universitario de Justicia Criminal (CUJC), Michelle Hernández de Fraley. La capacitación es ofrecida en el CUJC por el Dr. Ernesto Fernández, Carlos Rosario y Leo Cordero de la Florida Regional Community Policing Institute (FLRCPI) en St. Petersburg College. Asimismo, un grupo de cuatro policías, que ya fueron certificados como Instructores, quienes también serán recurso durante el taller. “Hoy damos comienzo al segundo adiestramiento sobre el tema de Policía Comunitario y con ello reafirmamos nuestro compromiso con la comunidad en que serán parte integral de nuestra labor. Con esta iniciativa lograremos crear conciencia en los miembros de la Uniformada sobre la importancia de involucrar a la comunidad para disminuir la criminalidad y lograr comunidades más seguras”, dijo el Jefe de la Policía. Entre los temas que impartirán durante el adiestramiento que consta de cuatro días son; Introducción a la Policía Comunitaria, Cómo Desarrollar Confianza en la Comunidad y Colaboración Policía Comunidad. Así como, Introducción a la Solución de Problemas, Aplicación del Modelo SARA, Técnicas de Instrucción y Educación de Adultos, entre otros temas de importantes. Por su parte, la coronel retirada, Hernández de Fraley, explicó que los nuevos instructores se unirán al grupo de 33 que ya fueron capacitados en marzo y cuya función será la capacitación masiva de la Uniformada sobre el tema de Policía Comunitaria. On June 10-13th, 2014, Dr. Ernesto Fernandez from the Puerto Rico Training Initiative, Instructor Carlos Rosario along with Training Coordinator Leo Cordero, presented the second of three “Introduction to Community Policing - Training of Trainers (TOT#2) sessions to 30 uniform police officers of the Puerto Rico Police Department. According to Colonel Jose Caldero Lopez, Puerto Rico Police Department Superintendent and Colonel Michelle Hernandez de Fraley, Provost of the Puerto Rico Criminal Justice College “today a second Train the Trainer (TOT) session began with 30 highly motivated police officers that will be certified as new instructors upon completing the training”.
This innovative training is being conducted at the Criminal Justice College and presented by Dr. Ernesto Fernandez, Prof. Carlos Rosario and Mr. Leo Cordero from the Florida Regional Community Policing Institute (FLRCPI) at St. Petersburg College. Also, during this TOT training four certified police officers, who previously attended TOT #1 and were certified as instructors, will provide assistance and serve as a resource during this session. According to the Superintendent of the Puerto Rico Police Department, “Today, we welcome our second Community Policing Train the Trainer and with this training we reaffirm our commitment to our communities which will be an integral part of our mission. Also, with this initiative we are going to develop a new vision in our police officers, the importance of integrating the community to collaborate efforts in the reduction of crime activity and development of safer communities”. Some of the topics to be discussed during these four days of training are: Introduction to Community Policing, How to Develop Trust in the Community, Police-Community Collaboration, Introduction to Problem Solving, SARA Model Application and Adult Education Techniques among other important topics. Retired Colonel, Michelle Hernandez de Fraley, Provost of the Puerto Rico Criminal Justice College, mentioned that these new group of instructors will join the prior certified group of 33 instructors that completed the same TOT training in March 2014. Their main mission will be to provide Community Policing Training to the entire Puerto Rico Police Force. These training sessions for the Puerto Rico Police Department are made possible by a grant provided to St. Petersburg College’s Florida Regional Community Policing Institute by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), United States Department of Justice (USDOJ). |
